Cure Toothaches - Have You Identified the Cause?

Who does not wish to cure toothache the moment it surfaces? Everyone knows a toothache can be very debilitating and can destroy all joy of life! You can cure toothache with natural, homeopathic or Ayurvedic medications. You can also visit your dentist to cure your toothache with western medical practices.

Before actually set out to treat toothache, it may be a good idea to review the causes for the toothache. A toothache is a symptomatic response to a disease. The disease could be confined to your gums and teeth or it could be due to an underlying physical or psychological cause. If the toothache is due to gum or tooth disease the cure for the toothache will lie with the dentist. If the dentist not able to treat your toothache, you must go to a general physician and get yourself physically and symptomatically examined for deeper underlying medical conditions. Your drive to cure toothache may save your life!

If a visit to the dentist cannot be arranged immediately, you could get some relief by trying out some simple home remedies. Cloves, onion, garlic, golden seal or an ice pack may help you numb the painful region and alleviate the toothache temporarily. Ayurvedic cures for toothache suggest oil pulling as an effective remedy. Homeopaths would prescribe Coffea C12 or Pyrogen C12 to treat toothache. All these remedies only relieve toothache temporarily or will take a long time to bring you the relief you seek. You need to get to the root cause of the problem before you dismiss it from your mind or learn to live with it.

Your dentist can treat toothache relating to gum disease permanently by getting your gums cleaned out and by prescribing antibiotics, mouthwashes and urging you to focus on improving oral hygiene. You can relive toothache that manifests due to pulpitis by having the affected tooth extracted or having a root canal treatment done. Exposed nerves, chipped teeth, eroded enamel will all demand root canal treatment for effective cure of toothache.

If your dentist is not able to solve the problem with any of the traditional dental techniques, you need to look further for treatment. Your general physician may refer you to a heart specialist. Strange as it may seem, an underlying heart problem can cause toothache. You heart specialist will do a physical exam and will suggest a number of laboratory tests to confirm your medical condition. Treating your heart condition will also get rid of the toothache.

Toothaches can also be caused by problems in the inner ear known as Tempromandibular Joint syndrome(TMJ). Your Doctor can cure toothache of this kind by examining your inner ear and prescribing cures for the TMJ.

To summarize the most common cause of toothache can be dental cavity or gum disease. However, toothache can also be caused by other medical conditions. Therefore, you need to be aware that to cure toothache permanently you may have to go both to a dentist and a general physician.

Does Sugar Really Cause Tooth Decay?

The culprit causing tooth decay is not sugar itself but the acid created by bacteria who feed on the sugar and other carbohydrates like sugar.

Is sugar the culprit? Not exactly. Ask any dental care professional in the field, sugar does not decay teeth. Do not blame sugar, but instead blame the streptococcus bacteria that live inside your mouth in biofilms called plaque. These bacteria feed on carbohydrates and exude harmful acids that destroy the calcium layer that cover your teeth. Saliva can neutralize the acid but when the mouth gets too much of acidic, the teeth get demineralized and rot. In this light, even bread and other carbohydrates stand on equal footing with sugar in relation to our teeth.

Cooked starches like chips and fries are harder to remove in the mouth as they cling more than food with high sugar levels like chocolates; this is the outcome of one study by New York University Dental Care. Food that can stay longer in the mouth gives the bacteria more time to secrete acid and more time to eat, increasing the risk of tooth decay greatly. Many researches and studies have also shown that people who eat more often run greater risks of tooth decay.

In a study conducted by the New York University Dental School it was found that cooked starches such as potato chips and French fries cling on the teeth much longer than sugary foods such as plain chocolate bars. This means that they have greater potential of causing tooth decay because of the longer period of acid production by the bacteria. Remember that it is not the sugar itself that destroys teeth, but the acid produced by bacteria eating on the carbohydrates stuck to our teeth. Sugar is only one among many sources of carbohydrates that come from our diet. Several studies have also shown that tooth decay is related to the frequency of eating; not just the amount of sugar or starch consumed. Frequent snacking harms the teeth because it reintroduces food particles which feed the bacteria.

What does help is if you brush your teeth immediately. Take extra care not to feed the streptococcus bacteria that live on the plaque on your teeth by brushing your teeth regularly, and if you are at a restaurant and eat something sweet, rinse with a mouthful of water immediately to dilute the sugar or carbohydrate. Brush daily and use a fluoride toothpaste. Make sure your dentist regularly removes plaque and tartar (calculus) that accumulates on your teeth over time. This way you can attack the problem of tooth decay and gum disease at its very source.

Researches reveal that diet is one of the most important factors in the health of our teeth. For example, people who eat food which are rich in vitamin c and calcium have strong teeth and healthy gums. Calcium helps strengthen the outer layer of the teeth (also called the enamel) while vitamin c helps keep the gums healthy. If you wanted to save on dental care cost, then the solutions are simple -you should learn how to prepare a healthy meal from home and you should teach your kids the importance of dental care. Whoever thought that a daily glass of milk and an egg for breakfast are enough to prevent emergency dental care?

Knowing this, we now have a greater understanding of tooth decay and how we can prevent it. Regular brushing and flossing are still the most effective ways for dental care. They clear away food residue and more importantly, the plaque that harbour bacteria. Thus the mechanical disruption and removal of the bacteria starve the bacteria and keep their growth in check. The faster the bacterial plaque and food debris is removed from your mouth, the less chance it will feed the bacteria and cause tooth decay.

Teeth Whitening Systems Are the Way to Go

When it comes to getting the ultra bright white you have always wanted, there is nothing better than the over the counter whitening systems. Many people tend to think that going to the dentist is the only way to get the white teeth that they have always dreamed of having. While the dentist can whiten your teeth, there is a better way. When it is time to finally do something for yourself, you want to make sure that you are going about it the right way.

The first thing to consider is the price. Quality over the counter whitening systems only cost a fraction of what the dentist would charge. When this means that you will save a few hundred dollars, why would you go any other route? What else could you do with that couple hundred dollars? Buy some new clothes? Paint the living room? Add to your child's college fund? It is always better to save money when you can instead of spending it at the dentist when you really do not have to.

Another thing to remember is that the whitening systems that you can purchase on your own work just as well as the treatment you would receive at the dentist. Just because the dentist has to charge an arm and a leg to try and recover his dental school fees, does not mean that the treatment there is any different or better than the whitening systems you can pick up on your own.

Then there are the natural remedies to consider. Some people will say that those work alright, but since there is not a lot of research that goes into such treatments, you would not want to risk any possible side effects or waste your time. Maybe you have a big date coming up; a high school reunion or you are simply fed up with having people look at the stains on your teeth than look you in the eyes. Whatever your reason is, if it is important to you, then it is important enough to get out there and get the stains removed and your teeth whitened.

Either way, no matter what your reason is, you do not have the time to waste on treatments that won't work and you do not have the money to waste on treatments from companies and people that are ripping you off. Why spend time and money that you do not have?

You do not need a prescription for the over the counter whitening systems. You could literally purchase one today and begin treatment. The sooner you get started, the sooner you will have the white teeth that you have always wanted. You no longer have to be embarrassed or insecure about smiling. You will be able to show your smile off to the entire world without fear of judgment.

Going to your dentist to whiten your teeth can cost a lot of money. Find out how you can quickly and safely use teeth whitening to get rid of stains on your teeth without going to the dentist or spending forty dollars on an at home whitening kit.

Do you have nicotine stains on your teeth? Find out how to quickly and cheaply get rid of nicotine stains on teeth without ever leaving your house.
